In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the sausage pieces for five minutes. Add the onions, carrots and celery and continue cooking for two minutes.
Add the garlic, parsley, thyme, oregano and hot pepper flakes and cook for one more minute.
Add the tomatoes, navy beans, diced potato, broth, salt and pepper, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and continue cooking for 10 minutes.
